About Mainbuilding.... The Hostel was started in the year 1941 by Lingaikya Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Maha Swamiji. Since then it has been providing free Lodging and Boarding for the students coming from all over the Karnataka. Eminent persons holding distinguish positions in the society have been the benificeries of the Hostel. A few instences can be illustrated personalities like Dr. U. R. Ananthamurthy, a writer and former vice-chancellor of Kotayam University and a recipent of Jnanapeeta award has stayed in the hostel. Sri D.M. Nanjundappa a eminent economist and Former Deputy Chairman of Planning commission was also a ward in the hostel. Sri Revannasiddaiah I. P. S. a eminent former IGP was also ward in the hostel. The hostel has been a centre for discorses and seminars.
